Tim Steidten, West Ham’s technical director, has been notified that he is no longer permitted in the first team dressing room due to the continued uncertainty surrounding manager David Moyes’ future.

West Ham's technical director is prevented from entering first team dressing room as his access is restricted, with his presence deemed inappropriate as he leads search for manager David Moyes's replacement |

Mail Sport has learned that following internal talks it has been decided that Steidten will not enter the senior dressing room at the London Stadium or the club’s Rush Green training ground.

While Moyes’ future is under so much uncertainty, with his current deal due to expire at the end of the season, and as Steidten actively seeks replacements for the Scot, it has been deemed inappropriate for the German administrator to be in and around the players and staff.

Steidten has a base at the London Stadium and training HQ, but his access to all parts of both facilities is now restricted.

Moyes will hold talks with owner David Sullivan at the end of the season when his future will be decided.

West Ham have blocked technical Tim Steidten from being in their dressing room and at their training ground

West Ham have barred technician Tim Steidten from entering their dressing room and training ground.

Moyes is expected to leave, since Steidten has begun the process of identifying his successor.

Steidten spends significant amounts of time away from London due to the nature of his employment, which requires him to meet with figures from all over the football globe in order to discuss the club’s recruitment efforts and, more recently, their search for a potential replacement for Moyes.

According to insiders, Steidten spends as little as two days a week at one of his two offices due to travel between appointments.

Former Wolves manager Julen Lopetegui has strong backing from West Ham officials, while Lille head coach Daniel Fonseca and Ipswich’s highly regarded Kieran McKenna are also on the Hammers’ radar.

Ruben Amorim, the manager of Sporting Lisbon, has been in talks with West Ham about entering the Premier League this summer. However, his potential appointment has been ruled out.

Steidten, whose brother Moritz is the Hammers’ head of international relations and scouting, has established himself as one of Europe’s best technical directors, and his appointment at West Ham last summer was seen as a coup for the club. The 45-year-old has worked for Werder Bremen and Bayer Leverkusen.

His arrival in 2023 undoubtedly reduced some of Moyes’ power base at the club, notably in terms of recruitment.

Spartak Moscow has made an unexpected inquiry into Moyes, as reported by Mail Sport.

Following a check on Moyes’ availability in April, the Russian club planned to capitalise on the uncertainties around him.

Moscow fired Guille Abascal a fortnight ago and has begun looking for suitable replacements.

According to sources, Moyes is reluctant to commit to Spartak Moscow, which wants to recruit him.

Spartak representatives have contacted Moyes’ camp to see if the former Manchester United manager might be interested in joining before the start of next season.

According to sources, Moyes is hesitant to commit to Spartak, especially given his commitments with West Ham for the remainder of the season.
