Local man Buckingham, speaking to the Oxford Mail, highlighted the significance of the sold-out matches, emphasizing the immense support for the club.

He expressed his pride in witnessing the positive atmosphere that echoes throughout the stadium, reminiscent of the Oxford United he knew growing up and now experiences as a manager.

Reflecting on the recent 5-0 victory over Oxford, Buckingham urged his players to draw confidence from the result while also recognizing the need to learn from both victories and defeats.

He stressed the importance of acknowledging the team’s capabilities, as demonstrated against Peterborough, against whom they displayed their ability to compete with top-tier opponents.

However, he cautioned against expecting a repeat performance, emphasizing the need for realism and the importance of taking positive lessons from past experiences.

Despite the challenges faced throughout the season, including changes and uncertainties, Buckingham expressed excitement about the upcoming playoffs.

He acknowledged the club’s progress, transitioning from a struggle to stay in the league to a position where they can now aim to advance.

With a full house expected at home, Buckingham emphasized the importance of clarity in approach and defensive solidity, especially against a formidable opponent like Peterborough with their dangerous attacking line.
