William Storey’s unsuccessful Coventry City offer
The 45-year-old British billionaire may be familiar to sports fans, as he has previously worked in Formula One and has made it clear for some time that he wants to invest in football.
In recent years, Storey has expressed interest in purchasing Sunderland and Reading, as well as Coventry City.
The Sky Blues had a rough era under old owners SISU, as they slid down the leagues and, surprisingly, had to play different seasons outside of their home city, in both Northampton and Birmingham.
As a result, fans were keen for a change at the top, and Storey was regarded to be a viable candidate after agreeing to a deal with the Midlands club.
King completed a deal for Coventry, which angered Storey, who claimed SISU violated his exclusivity window by searching elsewhere.
William Storey sends Coventry City message
Even though the club have made serious progress since King took over, Storey is adamant that he would have the Sky Blues in a better position right now.
That’s after he took to social media to hit out at King, as he explained how he would’ve been a better option for the club from both a football and commercial sense.
“(Mark) Robins continues to do an excellent job for underprivileged owners. Had Sisu honored my written contract, Coventry City would have been revolutionized. New top players, investment (in contrast to King, who has pulled £7 million out of the club after selling two of its greatest players), new sponsors, and a training facility.”
Coventry City are headed in the right path.
Coventry has lost two penalty shoot-outs at Wembley Stadium in less than a year, first against Luton Town in the play-off final and then against Manchester United in the FA Cup semi-final.
A midweek loss to Hull City basically destroyed their ambitions of finishing in the top six, but fans will acknowledge King’s outstanding contribution to the club.Coventry City are headed in the right path.

They will all recall how grim things were before he arrived, and the fact that they have gone so close to winning the Premier League and an FA Cup final illustrates how far they have come in the last 18 months.
So, there will be absolute confidence that if King continues to support Robins, the team and club will succeed.
Storey’s failure to complete deals for three football clubs has a negative impact on his reputation, and many Coventry fans may disagree with his claim that he would have done better.
Finally, they will be pleased with their current performance and relieved that Storey did not complete his takeover proposal.
