West Brom Uncertainty Surrounds Carlos Corberan’s Future Amid New Leicester City Speculation…

Rob Tanner’s article [12 June] reveals that Corberan and Graham Potter currently head up the list of Leicester’s potential candidates to replace Enzo Maresca, who leaves the club he took back to the Premier League to take Mauricio Pochettino’s chief role at Chelsea.

It is predicted that the Foxes will make a formal offer to their chosen candidate sooner rather than later.

Corberan may be tempted should the promoted club be willing to negotiate compensation with West Brom.

As West Brom recover from play-off disappointment and are reeling from a host of players either leaving The Hawthorns or struggling to agree new terms, the last thing the club need is to lose their prized manager.

Corberan is a switched-on figure and will be aware of the potential disadvantages of making the move across the Midlands.

An obvious reason is the lack of time the Spaniard may have to start a project from scratch at the King Power Stadium as opposed to using the trust he has already banked during his time thus far with Albion.

In addition, Leicester’s financial disarray from 2022-23 that is likely to land the club in hot water with Financial Fair Play next campaign makes the survival mission considerably harder.

In contrast to the out-of-work Potter, Corberan’s switch would require hefty compensation to the Baggies, with his current contract running until 2027, and the Foxes may look to swerve the avenue of sacrificing further funds.

West Brom have a leg to stand on despite Leicester’s Premier League status – it remains to be discovered if Corberan sees it the same way.

In other West Brom news, Carlton Palmer has given his verdict as Sheffield Wednesday rival the club for a transfer target.
