‘He wouldn’t even get a game in the Scottish Premiership’ – McAvennie savages Rangers loanee

Alex Lowry, a midfielder for Rangers, had a bad loan experience at Hearts and now “won’t get a game” at a premier league team.

Frank McAvennie, a former striker for West Ham and Celtic, stated exclusively to Football Insider that the 20-year-old needs to move down to the Scottish Championship in order to “get his strength.”

After spending time at the Edinburgh club, Lowry was traded back to the Gers after making 17 appearances and scoring one goal.

Although he acknowledged that the midfielder would find it “difficult for him to get minutes” at Ibrox, Philippe Clement stated that the player had returned with an injury that might sideline him for up to eight weeks.

If the young player could not establish himself in Steven Naismith’s starting lineup, McAvennie believes the premier league is too much for him and has pushed him to grow outside of Glasgow.

He said to Football Insider, “He won’t get a game for Rangers if he can’t get one for Hearts.”

“He wouldn’t even be eligible for a Scottish Premiership match.”

Get him real games and loan him to a Championship team.

“He can get away with a lot more down there, but he can’t do much in the first division.”

He’ll regain his strength and pick up skills to elude tackles and sidestep opponents.

There are situations in which going back a step is beneficial.
