Rangers told to accept ‘£5m’ offer by pundit after Ibrox source’s reveal today

Rangers should accept a potential “£5million” offer for Tom Lawrence and reinvest the money into Philippe Clement’s squad.

That is the view of former Gers and Scotland defender Alan Hutton, who was speaking exclusively to Football Insider about the 30-year-old, admitting his fitness is “an issue” for Clement’s side.

Lawrence has just one year left to run on his contract at Ibrox and has been widely linked with the likes of Ipswich, Sheffield United and top Turkish sides.

Sources have told Football Insider today that Rangers are willing to offload Lawrence this summer and use the cash to invest in new signings.

The Wales international notched three goals and three assists in 32 appearances across all competitions in the 2023-24 campaign.

Just 16 of those outings came as part of the starting lineup with injuries hampering his involvement throughout the season.

Rangers told to sell Lawrence with ‘injuries an issue’

Hutton insisted he “likes” Lawrence as a player, but suggested potential proceeds from his sale could go further to improve the squad at Ibrox.

He told Football Insider“If they can get up to £5million for him, I would accept it.

“He’s just turned 30, he scored three goals last season.

“I like him as a player and what he gives you. He’s very good in the number ten position and can also play out wide if need be.

“Clement has shown he can also play in midfield.

“But I just think the injuries are an issue, and I keep seeing these rumours coming up – whether it be Ipswich or Sheffield United, or others.

“If you can get that sort of money in for him, Rangers would be willing to take it.

“They have got other players in those positions, and they’re looking to strengthen.

“It might be a case of getting him out to get others in – and £5million could be a good deal.”
