Rangers are willing to allow Kemar Roofe to leave the team this summer as a free agent, Football Insider has been informed by sources.
The lucrative contract of the 31-year-old will expire at the conclusion of the current season, and the Ibrox club has no plans to renew it.
Given Roofe’s problematic injury history in recent seasons, the Gers were unwilling to take a chance by prolonging his stay.
Rather, the Glasgow giants want to sign a striker in the summer who is reportedly on the “A-list,” and they want to pay for the signing with money that will be saved from Roofe’s salary.
Rangers are hoping to sign Fabio Silva permanently if they can secure a £20 million boost from Champions League qualification, as reported by Football Insider.
Rangers target the new attacker as Roofe shows them the way out
After joining the team from Leeds United in 2020, Roofe has spent the last four years at Ibrox.
This season, he has made 18 appearances for Philippe Clement’s team, but he hasn’t played the whole ninety minutes.
In other news, the 28-year-old’s record-breaking sum must be paid by the Rangers after several bids were turned down.
