Rangers are due to complete the signing of Brazilian left-back Jefte before the February 1 deadline, according to Rangers Review.
The Fluminense defender is currently on loan at Cypriot club APOEL, but is set to join Rangers with a deal agreed between the Light Blues and the Brazilian club.
A deal has been awaiting the green light from APOEL to cut the loan short, but the player is still due to sign a deal at Ibrox before the deadline at 11pm on Thursday night.
“Brazilian left-back Jefte is also due to sign for Rangers before the window closes tomorrow night,” they wrote.
Finally
Rangers have been chasing a left-back for the entire transfer window but they’ve had a tough time getting a deal over the line.
Even this deal has been tricky with terms agreed a while ago, but the green light never officially arriving unfortunately despite just a day remaining of the window.
But with this report suggesting a deal is still due to be completed in time it’s expected that Philippe Clement will finally get his man in a problem position and that will make the squad stronger.
Jefte is an attacking full-back who will provide width, combination play and an attacking mindset and with the futures of Borna Barisic and Ridvan Yilmaz up in the air his chance at regular football could come sooner than expected.
But if not he is still young enough to be one for the future rather than immediately, and Rangers will have secured a top young talent to come through the Ibrox doors to give the manager a chance of success where others have failed.
