Rangers have agreement for new signing – Player heading for medicals with Phillipe Clement’s side

Transfer timeline for Mohamed Diomande to Rangers revealed as Philippe Clement closes in on second January signing | The Scottish Sun

Rangers are close to completing the signing of Óscar Cortés, according to claims from South America.

Colombian journalist Pipe Sierra writes there’s an agreement between Lens and Phillipe Clement’s side for the winger’s arrival at Ibrox.

It’s said Cortés will be joining Rangers on a five-month loan deal, and the Scottish club will have an option to buy him at the end of the season.

The report claims there is a desire from Rangers to make the move permanent. Now they’re waiting for the medical tests to get the signing confirmed.

Even though Brazilian side São Paulo were recently linked to Cortés, Sierra claims there was never anything coming from them, as that was all ‘smoke’.

The winger was a recent signing for Lens, who spent €4.5m to take him from Colombian side Millonarios last summer. Since his arrival, he’s had one goal and one assist in four appearances.

It sounds a little early for the French side to give up on the 20-year-old. There’s no clarity on what Rangers would have to pay for a permanent deal.
