Michy Batshuayi set for Rangers talks as one-time £33m striker emerges as target

Rangers have reportedly targeted a stunning swoop for Belgian goal machine Michy Batshuayi.

Philippe Clement is keen to bolster his attacking options and the Scottish Sun reports that ex-Chelsea frontman Batshuayi has emerged as a serious option. It’s said that the Light Blues are set to hold talks with the 30-year-old in the next 24 hours over the possibility of luring him to Glasgow on a short-term deal.

Batshuayi is set to leave Fenerbahce after failing to agree a new contract with the Turkish giants and Gers are said to be one of a number of clubs interested in a loan deal, with Everton also keen. The capture of Batshuayi would be a massive coup for Rangers and their title ambitions, and his marquee arrival would certainly excite fans given his goalscoring exploits throughout his career.

Batshuayi – who has 27 goals in 54 caps for Belgium – made his name at Standard Liege and Marseille before earning an eye-watering £33million switch to Chelsea in 2016. He hit 25 goals for the Stamford Bridge club and also spent time on loan with Borussia Dortmund, Valencia, Crystal Palace and Besiktas.

The hitman has found the net eight times for Fenerbahce this season but could now be set for a sensational switch to Scotland to lead Rangers’ title charge alongside Fabio Silva.
