Hamilton agree deal to sign Rangers midfielder Ben Williamson as permanent Ibrox exit edges closer

Ben Williamson, a midfielder for Rangers, signs a contract with Hamilton as the permanent Ibrox departure gets closer.

The Daily Record reports that Ben Williamson is about to ink a contract with Hamilton as a permanent move from Rangers approaches.

The newspaper said on Wednesday, December 3, at 11:40 a.m., via its live transfer feed that the 22-year-old Scottish midfielder is expected to sign a contract with the League One team, who are looking to bolster their promotion bid by adding players.

Over the last three years, the Gers academy product has been moved out on loan multiple times. This week, his six-month loan at Championship team Partick Thistle comes to an end.

Not unexpected

Finding out that Williamson is gradually losing ground is hardly shocking.

Despite being out on loan to five different teams in the last three years, he has never managed to make a senior appearance since emerging through the ranks of the club.

After making just seven starts for the team in his twelve appearances during the first half of this season at Firhill Stadium, Partick made the decision not to extend his six-month loan stay with them.

The midfielder is of little use to the Gers, therefore it’s unlikely they will get much, if any, in the way of a transfer fee.

Since it’s obvious he has no future in Glasgow, the Light Blues are probably just eager to let him go and play regular first-team football elsewhere.
