Don Hutchison regrets his unsuccessful Rangers trade

Don Hutchison stated on social networking platform X that one of his greatest regrets in his career was not signing with the Rangers.

In 2001, the midfield player was on the verge of joining Rangers; however, Hutchison ultimately made his way back to West Ham after losing his starting position at the Stadium of Light.

After being questioned about his Ibrox allegiances, the English-born midfield player stated that Hutchinson was inspired to play for his country by his Scottish-born miner father, who was a bluenose.

In sports, stories like Don Hutchison’s and the Rangers are not uncommon; the chance to become a member of the Ibrox club typically comes around once.

There aren’t many bluenoses who wouldn’t jump at the chance, even if many have chosen to take their risks since the allure of the Rangers has proven to be too great and when family ties are taken into account.

Don Hutchison chose to stay at West Ham for a further four years, but it’s obvious that he has lived to regret his choice. Of course, there are other forces at work as well.

The midfield player’s most famous association is perhaps with the Hammers, but his second stint at the team was cut short by a series of major injuries.
