DONE DEAL: Rangers completed; he will join new club Journalist

Yunus Emre Sel claims that Borna Barisic is one of two players who have agreed to terms to sign with Trabzonspor this summer, when the Rangers defender’s Ibrox contract expires.

The Sabah and Fotomac journalist acknowledged he could not confirm 100% because he had not seen the Croatian’s signature on the document when responding to a question late on March 28 on his 33-minute YouTube livestream. However, he understood that his deal had been made to leave Glasgow in the summer.

Though there was no indication that the second player was John Lundstram, the Gers midfielder was also linked to a move to the Turkish club this week, with his own contract expiring [Akdeniz Gercek, 27 March]. He was unaware of the identity of the second player.

The 31-year-old Barisic has been heavily courted to join the Turkish Super Lig after losing his starting position to Ridvan Yilmaz; the Light Blues have reportedly chosen to hold onto the younger left-back as a result.

Despite Yilmaz’s (22) injury sustained during the international break, which will prevent him from playing against Hibs on March 30, the veteran will still be used before he is expected to leave.

Rangers pulling out of a signed Borna Barisic deal?
Even though Barisic has to make a contribution before his contract expires, all indications point to a fresh start for him.

In order to avoid Barisic having to fill in for Yilmaz in another Old Firm match, supporters will be anxiously awaiting Yilmaz’s full recovery for the Celtic match next week (7 April). Philippe Clement has hinted that it is unclear whether the Turkey international will return in time.

It may surprise some people in Glasgow, but by all accounts, Trabzonspor is being aggressive ahead of the summer, and it looks like they have made the most concentrated push for Barisic out of all the players.

It appears that nothing is standing in their way of their success in that endeavor, so it appears that all that’s left to do is make an announcement.

In fact, it would be more detrimental to the Rangers should it occur, a move to acquire Lundstram while they were at it appears much less likely.

However, it appears that there is a perception that the Barisic agreement is now finalized and awaiting formal validation.

In other Rangers news, two of their best players are back in the gym and could play at Ibrox against Hibs.
