Rangers’ injuries to Dujon Sterling and Ross McCausland are a “big concern.”
Former Gers and Aston Villa defender Alan Hutton stated in an exclusive interview with Football Insider that the team’s expanding injury list is a major worry coming into a critical stretch of games.
On Sunday, 10 March, Rangers defeated Hibernian in the Scottish Cup quarterfinals. Sterling and McCausland were both substituted out, and Clement later revealed that the former will not play in their upcoming match against Benfica.
The absence of players like Todd Cantwell, Danilo, Oscar Cortes, and Abdallah Sima has limited Clement’s options, but the injury list at Ibrox does not seem to be hurting the team’s chances of winning the championship.
Rangers suffer a “major” blow to injuries.
Hutton acknowledged that the coach has instilled a “steely mentality” in the group, which has lessened the impact of the small roster, but he was still worried going into the crucial run-in.
“The injury list is a major worry, not just because we’re losing both McCausland and Sterling,” he said to Football Insider.
“I think Rangers would be in a really good position going into these next fixtures if the entire squad had been fit.”
Right now, the management has ingrained a very hard mentality.

“In past seasons, they may have faltered in specific circumstances, such as the Benfica game or the match against Hibs.
It doesn’t appear to be the case, and Rangers are doing a great job at what they do.
“But they can’t control the injuries.
“Rabbi Matondo being back is obviously huge, so hopefully that can ease the burden.”
