Fans have already traveled to Dens Park in anticipation of the Premiership match’s postponement.
Jack Butland, the goalkeeper, has won over the Rangers supporters with his performances thus far and his gesture to the away fans following their cancellation of their match against Dundee.
Before the noon match was postponed, a number of visiting supporters had already made the trek to Tayside when referee Don Robertson declared the pitch unsuitable at 10:15 a.m. However, the Scottish Premiership match, which would have offered Rangers the opportunity to reclaim the top spot in the standings, was postponed due to bad weather for the fourth time this season at Dundee’s home game.
Dens Park CEO John Nelms disclosed that the team requested the SPFL to postpone kickoff, but the players’ return to the team bus and subsequent trip back to Glasgow was at the behest of the governing body. Butland spent time taking pictures and signing autographs with the punters prior to the journey along the A9, refusing to let the Rangers supporters waste their trip.
The No. 1 was praised by the support for his thoughtful action. One admirer commented on X, writing: “Class act from Jack Butland as always.”
Somebody else added, “A touch of class from him.” “Our number one,” a blue love heart emoji was added by another ardent Ranger.
