GREAT ACHEIVEMENTS: Portsmouth boss named manager of the season as 3 players also

At the EFL Awards, John Mousinho, the manager of Pompey, was named the League One manager of the season.

Three Blues players were named to the League One Team of the Season at the event that took place in London last night, and the team is celebrating this additional recognition.

Mousinho was named the best manager in the third division after defeating Darren Ferguson of Peterborough and Steve Evans of Stevenage with his outstanding work in leading Pompey to the verge of winning League One.
After accepting the award from Trevor Birch, the CEO of the EFL and a former Blues administrator, Mousinho said, “I’ve absolutely loved it.” I didn’t anticipate receiving an offer of employment when the call came in. I thank the club for taking that risk on me and it was a big risk, so it was a lot of faith that they put in me to do what we’re trying to achieve.

“This year’s players have been amazing, and three of our guys made the team of the season, which makes me even more proud than just winning this.”

The Portsmouth supporters have experienced a lot over the past fifteen years. It would mean the world to all those associated with the football team and provide the supporters with a sense of accomplishment after all the struggles they have faced.

Pompey was the only team with as many players named in the divisional team of the season, which included Will Norris, Conor Shaughnessy, and captain Marlon Pack.

Norris has kept eighteen clean sheets in his debut season at Fratton Park, and Pompey’s strategy under Mousinho has been heavily reliant on his ability to play the ball.

Since moving from Burton Albion, Shaughnessy has been a rock of consistency, and Pack’s leadership and skill at the ball have been essential to his team’s success thus far.

In addition, Pack was considered for the League One player of the season award; Harrison Burrows of Peterborough won it.
