Pompey chief executive Andy Cullen has provided an update on Portsmouth FC’s summer recruitment

‘Very well’ – Portsmouth CEO provides key transfer update and reveals when signings will be announced

Pompey chief executive Andy Cullen has provided an update on Portsmouth FC’s summer recruitment plans, stating that they are progressing ‘very well.’ The club aims to have several new signings ready for the start of pre-season, despite the transfer window not officially opening until June 14.

Cullen emphasized the club’s strategy of not making any public announcements about new additions until the transfer period is operational to avoid alerting competitors and to ensure deals are secure. The goal is to have a significant portion of the squad assembled by the pre-season testing on June 27 and the resumption of training on July 3.

Despite the League One and Championship play-offs still ongoing, Pompey has been actively engaged in identifying and discussing potential targets for months. Both manager John Mousinho and sporting director Rich Hughes, currently on holiday, have remained involved in recruitment efforts.

The club intends to replicate last year’s successful approach, which saw 14 new players join the team. With ten players expected to leave this summer and possible departures of Joe Morrell and Zak Swanson, a busy transfer window is anticipated as Pompey prepares for the upcoming season.

Cullen reiterated the importance of finalizing deals discreetly until they are fully confirmed to avoid any potential complications or interest from rival clubs. This careful approach has served them well in the past and will continue to guide their recruitment strategy.
