Exclusive: Aston Villa reach ‘full agreement’ on new signing – & second deal lined up

Aston Villa and Ross Barkley have reached a “full agreement,” according to sources from Football Insider, paving the way for the midfielder’s move from Luton Town in the coming days.

The Midlands club is focused on making Barkley their first summer signing and is also actively pursuing a second senior player acquisition in the upcoming weeks, aiming to efficiently conduct their transfer dealings early.

Football Insider initially reported last Saturday (18th May) that Villa had initiated talks to re-sign Barkley following approval from Unai Emery. Since then, discussions have progressed significantly, leading to a comprehensive agreement following a positive turn in negotiations.

Barkley, at 30, is motivated to play in the Champions League next season, and Villa’s fourth-place finish has positioned them favorably ahead of other interested clubs in securing his services. While several top Premier League teams, including Newcastle United, have shown interest, Barkley is poised to join Villa unless there’s an unexpected breakdown in talks.
