Report: 25-year-old was locked in a hotel to stop him joining Liverpool, now the club wants to sign him again

Liverpool are apparently interested in a 25-year-old who the club attempted to sign a few years ago but was unable to secure.

Liverpool’s new era will not only start with Arne Slot this summer. It will also be the Michael Edwards and Richard Hughes period.

These two will be nearly as critical as Slot. Especially as they manage the changing terrain of the Liverpool team.

Naturally, with Jurgen Klopp and so many of his backroom staff going, there is a good chance that the playing team will also change.

However, new members will be joining the group as well.

Is Victor Osimhen back on Liverpool’s transfer radar?

Victor Osimhen has been linked with a move to Liverpool. The 25-year-old Napoli forward has been on the club’s radar for several years.

And given how Napoli has performed this season, it is not surprising that he is looking to move on.

According to Corriere dello Sport, Osimhen wants to play for a Premier League team, and Liverpool is among the clubs interested in signing him.

Given Darwin Nunez’s unclear future at the club, Osimhen could be a great option. Especially since he is someone Edwards and Klopp have long desired.

How Victor Osimhen was prevented from joining Liverpool.

Liverpool have expressed interest in signing Victor Osimhen before he joined Napoli. Cristiano Giuntoli, then-director of Napoli, ‘locked’ Osimhen inside a hotel to persuade him to join the club instead of moving to Liverpool.

That is according to Giandomenico Costi, who worked with Giuntoli in Napoli. Cost announced Osimhen’s move to Naples in an interview last year.

According to the Italian daily Tuttosport (via Liverpool Echo), Giuntoli’s most notable achievement is the recruitment of Osimhen.

“He [Osimhen] was locked in a hotel for three days. Giuntoli was aware that Liverpool were interested, and Jurgen Klopp had made his pitch, but Cristiano spent three days at the hotel persuading Osimhen to accept Napoli’s proposal.
