Chelsea youngster hopes to stay at Ipswich next season following promotion

Chelsea youngster Omari Hutchinson has stated he hopes to stay at Ipswich Town next season following their promotion to the Premier League.

Hutchinson joined the Tractor Boys on a season long loan last summer, and established himself as a key member of the team that fired Ipswich back to the top flight for the first time in 20 years.

The 20-year-old scored the second goal in the 2-0 win over Huddersfield last weekend, which guaranteed a second place finish and automatic promotion.

Hutchinson wants Ipswich stay

Chelsea have had mixed success with their loans this season, but by far the most successful has been Hutchinson’s.

The winger won the Ipswich Player of the Month award on three separate occasions, and was also named Championship Player of the Month for February.

In total Hutchinson made 44 appearances in the Championship, scoring ten goals and providing six assists, in whats been a brilliant season for his development as a player.

Hutchinson has had an excellent loan spell at Ipswich.

With his loan period over, he will return to Chelsea, where he has one year left on the contract he signed after arriving on a free transfer from Arsenal in 2022.

It would be surprising if the Blues did not offer Hutchinson new terms following his impressive loan spell, and after securing promotion, he was queried about his future, implying that he wanted to stay at Portman Road.

“I hope to stay at Ipswich next season, but will see what my agent and manager say,” he told Sky Sports.

“It’s the best loan I could have ever imagined!”

It makes sense for the kid to stay at Ipswich in a familiar environment where he is likely to play regular Premier League games, which is the next step in his career.

Hutchinson has made two appearances for Chelsea and will undoubtedly seek to add to that number in the future years; he certainly has the skill to do so; it remains to be seen whether the opportunity will arise at Chelsea.
