Wolves manager describes Coventry manager as “disgusting” after flashing a smile at a small youngster.

Mark Robins

Gary O’Neill, the manager of Wolves, has criticized Mark Robins of Coventry for his “disgusting” celebration following the Championship team’s FA Cup upset of their Premier League rivals. Robins has expressed regret for his celebration in front of the young ball boy, acknowledging that his feelings had overtaken him.

In extra time, Coventry staged an incredible comeback to upset Wolves 3-2 and secure a spot in the semi-finals in April. Deep into stoppage time, Ellis Simms and Hadji Wright scored to overturn Wolves’ 2-1 lead.

Robins said he had become upset early in the game because he thought the ball boy was using deceptive techniques. Following Wright’s incredible goal in the 99th minute, the Coventry manager exulted in front of the youngster.

O’Neil described the festivities as “disgusting” and disclosed that the little child was distressed about what had happened. “He apologized, but it’s disgusting to celebrate in a little boy’s face,” the Wolves manager stated. The boy is quite angry.

“It ought not to occur. Since they’re simply kids working, I felt that talking to Mark about it was incredibly necessary.”
