The Sky Blues have been one of the FA Cup’s standout performers this season and still have a chance of promotion to the Premier League too.
The EFL and FA have reportedly already created an emergency backup plan in case the Sky Blues make it to the championship game in any of their respective leagues this season, according claims from The Mirror.
It says that if things change over the following few weeks, there is room to reposition the fixture.
The EFL has permitted the Championship regular season finish to take place one week later than the League One and League Two finals, which are scheduled to take place one week apart. Supporters won’t have enough time to arrange appropriate travel and lodging, which could have a detrimental influence on ticket sales.
There aren’t many free days at Wembley during this time, which further complicates matters. The home of English football will host the 2023–24 Champions League final the following weekend on June 1.
