Coventry City has been dealt another blow with the revelation that Ben Sheaf has sustained a muscle injury, sidelining him for the recent match against Blackburn Rovers and casting doubt on his availability for the team’s remaining two fixtures this season.
Manager Mark Robins disclosed the news following Saturday’s goalless draw at Ewood Park, stating that the key midfielder has a “muscle issue” and attempted to train on Friday but was unable to do so, forcing him to miss out.
When pressed for more specific information about the affected muscle, Robins declined to elaborate, indicating that the problem might be more significant than initially thought. “It’s a muscle in his body,” he stated. “I’ll provide further details when necessary. At this point, there’s no need to discuss it further. He’s struggling.”
Additionally, centre-back Luis Binks was also absent from the matchday squad due to an Achilles issue, with Robins explaining, “Binksy is still out with his Achilles issue. We’re unable to scan it yet, so we’re treating the symptoms and monitoring his progress. Both players were facing difficulties.”
Following Liam Kitching’s straight red card in the goalless draw, resulting in a three-match suspension, Robins finds himself with only two fully fit senior centre-backs in Bobby Thomas and Joel Laibeaudiere. However, left-back Jake Bidwell could potentially fill in if necessary. Furthermore, Coventry City is currently without midfielder Victor Torp, who sustained a stomach strain in the FA Cup semi-final the previous weekend.
