Coventry City transfer news via CoventryLive, as reports emerge that Preston are pulling out all the stops to keep their 29-year-old captain Alan Browne.
Preston appear to be stepping up their efforts to keep coveted captain Alan Browne, despite ‘interest’ from Coventry City and newly demoted Sheffield United.
Alan Nixon of The Sun revealed earlier this month that the Sky Blues are interested in the versatile 29-year-old midfielder, who is out of contract this summer following ten years at Deepdale, nine of which were spent in the Championship. Browne, an accomplished midfielder who can also play out wide, scored four goals and gave four assists for his squad last season.
Mark Robins is said to be aiming to strengthen his midfield with the release of Liam Kelly and the impending confirmation of Callum O’Hare’s exit. Browne is contemplating his choices, and there look to be several offers on the table for him.
However, Coventry’s chances of signing Browne – a Republic of Ireland international with 35 caps – appear to be fading, according to transfer specialist Nixon, who claims on his Patreon platform: “Preston’s chances of keeping shipper Alan Browne are soaring as rivals struggle to match their offer.
Browne, a Republic of Ireland midfielder, has been given a record contract, but Sheffield United and Coventry City have also expressed interest. However, the North End package is larger, and Browne may commit to them in the coming weeks.
