Godden, Allen: Coventry City’s injury situation ahead of a crucial test against Leeds United

Coventry news provides Coventry City injury updates, and Sky Blues manager Mark Robins explains why Matty Godden isn’t in the matchday squad for the match against Cardiff.

Following Matty Godden’s absence from the Coventry City match against Cardiff on Easter Monday, Mark Robins has given an update on the team’s injuries.

The striker attended the game and watched the Sky Blues lose 2-1 at the CBS Arena from the stands with his family. After replacing Ellis Simms in the 83rd minute of Good Friday’s 3-1 victory over Huddersfield, he had been injured. The 32-year-old is hoping to get better in time to be included in the squad for Saturday’s home match against Leeds United, who are currently in second place.

The City manager stated, “I’m hoping Matty will be OK heading into the weekend after missing out on him due to a calf injury on Friday.” We had to take him off the field for a day or two to give him time to collect himself since he simply felt that after the Huddersfield game. We are, however, there.

As for Jamie Allen, who returned to full training during the international break last week following a seven week recovery from a fractured cheekbone he suffered against Sheffied Wednesday in the FA Cup, the midfielder has picked up a comeback injury.
When asked if he would be free over the weekend, Robins responded, “No, he has a specific setback.” Right now, he’s got a calf injury. Simply put, it’s tight because he hasn’t been seen in a while. Whenever you try to intensify things, it just spreads. Thus, it will take a little bit longer to recover because of the slight tightness in his calf.
