Once again, Coventry City faced disappointment at Wembley as they displayed remarkable courage against Manchester United in an FA Cup semi-final, only to be eliminated in a penalty shootout. Initially trailing 3-0 after goals from Scott McTominay, Harry Maguire, and Bruno Fernandes, the Sky Blues seemed destined for defeat. However, a late surge saw Ellis Simms and Callum O’Hare bring them within reach at 3-2. Haji Wright’s added-time penalty leveled the scores, leading to extra time. Despite a disallowed goal from Victor Torp in the dying seconds, the match went to penalties. Though Casemiro missed United’s first spot-kick, Coventry failed to capitalize, with Ben Sheaf and O’Hare also unable to convert. Ultimately, Manchester United emerged victorious in a tense shootout. Nonetheless, the 36,000 Sky Blues supporters witnessed a memorable day at Wembley. Below are some snapshots from this extraordinary afternoon.
