Ellis Simms was furious following Coventry’s “stinker” of a miss against Wolves.

In front of an empty net, Simms sent the ball straight to Wolves goalkepeer Jose Sa

Ellis Simms received harsh criticism for a “pure travesty” of a miss that happened during Coventry City’s FA Cup match against Wolves on Saturday afternoon.

The first FA Cup quarterfinal of the weekend took place at Molineux, where Championship opponents Premier League Wolves entertained the crowd.

It appeared as though Simms would give the underdogs the lead, but he mishandled his shot in front of goal, directing it directly towards Wolves custodian Jose Sa, although the remainder of the net was open.

Although it would not have counted since the referee would have flagged it for offside, Coventry would have been eager to take advantage of the opportunity as they looked to take the lead in a goalless first half.

X (previously Twitter) users were not nice. One user asked, “How did Simms miss that?” and included a woozy emoji.
