Coventry’s “Double-Act” Backed by Pundits to Work the Miracle.

Pundits are backing Coventry City manager Mark Robins and his assistant Adi Viveash to get the Sky Blues into the playoffs.

Radio Five pundit Sam Parkin is supporting Ellis Simms and Haji Wright to help Coventry City qualify for the playoffs under the direction of Mark Robins and Adi Viveash, the team’s “brilliant” management and coaching duo.

At Huddersfield Town on Friday, the dynamic twin spearhead once again proved to be the difference. Simms scored twice in the first half to extend his goal tally to 12 goals in his previous nine games, and Wright’s extra-time winner ended the Terriers’ comeback.

And as the Sky Blues battle for a top-six spot in the final weeks of the season, Parkin, a highly successful front man throughout his extensive League career, anticipates more of the same.

“They may have the best forward players in the division right now, along with Leeds,” he remarked. “This is an amazing turnaround for Ellis Simms, who was receiving criticism from a significant portion of the support recently.” He is a genuine physical outlet for any team, as I recall seeing him for Everton in the Premier League.

Of course, he can still get better technically, but I’m really happy to see him make progress. And based on his current form, I believe he and Haji Wright have the potential to make a significant impact in this close contest between Hull, Norwich, and Coventry for the final play-off spot.

Michael Appleton, who was fired by Charlton in January, is presently unemployed but is pleased with Simms’s development thus far this year.

“It takes time, and as Sam points out, not too long ago, he was receiving a lot of flak, but he overcame it and had the perseverance to see it through, and now he’s reaping the benefits.

He made his playing debut at Blackpool when he was a young player, and his outstanding loan spell helped spark their push for promotion. He had another strong run at Hearts, so he went out there, put in the effort, and gave himself the chance to move to Coventry.

Additionally, Parkin and Appleton praised City’s managerial duo.

“I was talking to a friend of mine about Coventry and the work Mark (Robins) had done three or four days ago,” Appleton recalled.

It was only his third or fourth game in charge of the football team, and when I was at Oxford, we played them in the EFL Trophy final, which they won 2-1.

“Mark’s success during that season simply serves to highlight his excellent work.” The next season, he helped them get promoted, and the year before, they were just one penalty kick away from joining the Premier League. It’s difficult not to give him more credit because, in my opinion, not many managers in the Football League have performed as well as he has.

Parkin concurred, saying, “I was happy to see that Adi Viveash, Mark Robins’ No. 2, received some attention this week in the Coventry newspaper.” He works hard on the training field, and I think the two of them work really well together.

“It goes without saying that Mark has dealt with a tonne of issues off the pitch and that he shines on match day. They’ve made significant strides in their tactical structure over the course of several seasons, as evidenced by their promotion from League One, consolidation, and performance from the previous campaign.
