Coventry City should deploy scouts to watch these 3 players this month

Coventry City had a dismal start to the season, but they have since turned things around and are once again in the running for the play-offs.

Last season, Mark Robins’ team advanced to the Championship play-off final, where they were defeated by Luton Town. However, the team had difficulty getting going in the first few weeks of the campaign.

The Sky Blues didn’t win another league game until September 30th, despite defeating Middlesbrough in their season-opening match in early August.

But since the middle of November, the Sky Blues have significantly improved, and they now realize that a successful January transfer window might give them a genuine chance to finish in the top six.

Like every team, Coventry plans to bolster its roster in January, and the team’s scouts will be keeping an eye out for possible additions.

Coventry ought to be scouting these three players this month.

Liam Cullen

Coventry will be familiar with Swansea City striker Liam Cullen after he scored a last minute equaliser for the Welsh side at the CBS Arena recently.

Given his recent admission, former Coventry City striker Viktor Gyokeres may be making a big money move soon.

According to Lancashire Live and journalist Darren Witcoop, the Welsh international’s contract in south Wales expires at the end of the current campaign, and Hull City and Blackburn Rovers expressed interest in him throughout the summer.

Over the last 12 months or so, the 24-year-old has improved as a Championship player, and his versatility allows him to play as an attacking midfielder, up forward, and on the wing.

Coventry may sign a cheap deal to acquire a versatile Championship-caliber attacker, as his contract expires in the summer.

Tom Fellows

Tom Fellows

Although he hasn’t received the starts he would have liked at the Baggies this season, West Brom teenager Tom Fellows appears to be an excellent prospect at the Championship level.

This season, he has only started one league match, which was the team’s most recent 1-0 loss to Swansea. Still, Fellows made an impression and played the entire ninety minutes. The teenage winger has struggled for league minutes at West Brom, one of the bigger clubs in the division, and he might try to go to a team where he would start more frequently.

Due to the Baggies’ financial predicament, it’s possible that the team may be eager to cash in on him in January since his contract expires at the end of the current campaign. Fellows has been the subject of interest lately, according to Darren Witcoop on X, and the Daily Mail revealed in November that the winger was being pursued by both Southampton and Leicester City.

Fellows should be under observation by Coventry’s scouts. If he were to make an impact for the Sky Blues, he might be a highly valuable addition with a high resale value.

Ricardo Santosricardo santos bolton

For the previous several seasons, Bolton Wanderers captain Ricardo Santos has been among the top center backs in League One and is deserving of a chance to play in the Championship.

Given that Kyle McFadzean of Coventry is currently 36 years old, Santos would be the ideal successor in terms of his leadership qualities.

The Portuguese defender, who came up from the lower divisions of English football, is currently in the prime of his career at the age of 28. He is renowned for being an excellent leader and player.

Although McFadzean has been an excellent player for Coventry, his time with the team is limited. The Sky Blues need to look for someone to take his place as captain.
