Coventry City boss Mark Robins praises Kyle McFadzean for the way he handled winter exit to Blackburn Rovers

Mark Robins, the manager of Coventry City, has given Kyle McFadzean credit for how he handled his winter departure.

On the penultimate day of the transfer window last week, Coventry City severed their connection with the center-back, who then signed a permanent contract with Blackburn Rovers, a Championship team.

The 36-year-old McFadzean served the Sky Blues well, but last month they informed him that he was no longer in their plans.

According to a CoventryLive story, Robins stated: “I would say that he was brilliant throughout, as you would expect.” One of the most important things is that he was still leading and encouraging in the dressing room despite his absence. You can’t undervalue that because people will feel that.

“All of these things are invisible to those on the outside, but they do have an effect. We merely wish that person the best of luck in all he does, with the exception of games against them, as his energy has left the building.

An new task for the former Coventry City man

Blackburn’s team gains valuable expertise from McFadzean as they attempt to stop their downward trend. The Lancashire team has given him the number 55 shirt. He was not utilized as a substitute in their most recent 2-1 home loss to QPR.

After joining Coventry in 2019, the seasoned player made 171 appearances across all competitions and contributed eight goals.

In his debut season, he contributed to the Sky Blues’ promotion from League One, and the next season, he was instrumental in leading Robins’ team to the play-off final. However, after losing to Luton Town at Wembley on penalties, they were not allowed to go to the Premier League.

In addition, McFadzean has represented teams like Burton Albion, MK Dons, Crawley Town, Alfreton Town, and Sheffield United.

This weekend, Blackburn, his new team, will play their home match against Stoke City in an attempt to snap their bad run of form. They are one point ahead of their next opponents and just five points above the drop zone.

Hull City passed Coventry on Saturday, causing them to lose to Norwich City away and drop out of the play-offs. This evening, they play Sheffield Wednesday in their FA Cup replay; the winner will play Maidstone United.
