When Bristol City hosts their fierce rivals in the Championship, Coventry City, on Tuesday night, they will be missing a number of players.
The Robins will be hoping to build on their thrilling performance in the FA Cup fourth round last time out against Nottingham Forest, a Premier League team, which necessitated a replay at the City Ground.
However, their league performance hasn’t been as stellar. Liam Manning’s team has plateaued in 13th place in the second tier, six points and seven places behind the Sky Blues, after failing to win in their last four games.
Although they have played well overall, they have only scored three goals in their last seven games due to a lackluster ability to convert opportunities.
Though they haven’t made much headway thus far, Manning has stated that the Robins are looking to add a striker before the January transfer window closes. But in the upcoming months, Scott Twine, who joined on loan from Burnley, will support their attack.
If the Robins are to win at Coventry, they will need to receive good play from Twine and Tommy Conway, who have been playing well lately.
After 11 games, the Sky Blues have won seven of them, moving them up to sixth place.
Since their previous setback, which came in a close loss to Suffolk Town on December 2, Mark Robins’ team has been playing excellent football.
The visiting defense will have to be cautious of Matt Godden, Haji Wright, and Tatsuhiro Sakamoto if they hope to earn a victory.
