The most recent Championship team to enter the competition for Joe Gelhardt of Leeds United is West Bromwich Albion.
The Baggies are eager to add the Leeds player to their roster this month, according to Alan Nixon via Patreon. Carlos Corberan, the team’s manager, has experience working with the player during his time as Leeds’ assistant manager.
Although Nixon believes Leeds wants to pay the 21-year-old’s wages in full if he signs with a possible contender for promotion, the Baggies are apparently eager to loan the player.
Naturally, Leeds is currently in fourth position in the Championship, and West Brom is one spot below in fifth, which means that the two teams may meet each other in May’s play-offs.

Rangers, Celtic and others also keen on Gelhardt
Unfortunately for West Brom, they are not the only club to be credited with an interest in Gelhardt this month.
In fact, the Leeds United forward is attracting plenty of interest.
For example, in the Championship, Blackburn Rovers and Plymouth Argyle are two sides to be name-checked in relation to the 21-year-old in recent weeks.
Meanwhile, Nixon’s report reveals that Scottish giants Celtic and Rangers are both also keen.
Leeds United’s stance on Gelhardt’s future
As well as the Baggies facing competition from other clubs to bring Gelhardt to The Hawthorns this month, they also face another obstacle – Leeds United themselves.
Despite Gelhardt having very rarely been involved this season, Leeds are not necessarily in a hurry to send him out on loan.
On the 21-year-old’s future, Leeds boss Daniel Farke recently explained, via LeedsLive: “Joffy [Gelhardt] is a proper part of our group and has also played several games and also several minutes.”
“At the moment, the group is definitely not too big and at the moment I’m not tempted to give any more players away.”
Farke added: “So we had this decision with Djed Spence, it was our decision, then we had to make the decision with Luke Ayling because he deserved, due to his career, we fulfil his wish. Right now, it’s the topic we want to keep, more or less, the group and perhaps look even to strengthen the squad.
