Skysports Report: Rodgers is ‘Angry’ as his Celtic board demand revealed

Football Insider has been informed by sources that Celtic manager Brendan Rodgers will seek the board’s complete support during the summer transfer window

The 51-year-old is said to be appalled by the caliber of the players he has been able to sign as well as the amount of money he has been given to spend on transfers thus far in his second stint.

Since his return to the team was announced in July of last year, sources claim that Rodgers has become “furious” over some of Celtic’s transfer business.

According to Transfermarkt, the Hornets invested slightly more than £19 million in the summer of 2023 to bring eight players on permanent contracts and two loanees to Parkhead.

Only a few of those arrivals have lived up to Rodgers’ first-choice status during the 2023–24 campaign, as they have been closely monitored.

With just nine combined Scottish Premiership starts, centre-backs Maik Nawrocki and Gustaf Lagerbielke have been particularly disappointing purchases for Rodgers, who is “furious” with Celtic’s business and wants full support this summer.

After what he perceived as a lack of spending in both windows of the 2023–24 campaign, it is anticipated that Rodgers will now demand complete support in the transfer market this summer.

Celtic’s finances are sound, and they can approve large-scale transactions after generating a £40.7 million profit before taxes in the 2022–2023 season.

Prior to rival Rangers appointing Philippe Clement, the Hoops had a seven-point lead in the race for the Scottish Premiership title this season.

With Celtic leading by a single point and having played one more game than their rivals, the race is now in the hands of the Gers.
