The highs and lows of European football were discussed by Ian Wright, Jamie Carragher, Roy Keane, and Gary Neville in the most recent Stick to Football episode.

Sunderland owner appears to confirm Roy Keane rumours: 'It would have been fun' - Sports Illustrated Sunderland Nation

The quartet brought up Celtic and Rangers, making it clear how different the mood is on European evenings at Parkhead and Ibrox.

Gary Neville recalled one of the greatest nights in Celtic history, when Artur Boruc’s iconic penalty save came just after the illustrious Shunsuke Nakamura hit a breathtaking free kick against Manchester United in 2006.

However, when discussing the loudness inside Ibrox during a Manchester United game, the former right-back for the Manchester United stated that, although the atmosphere at Celtic was “loud,” he had “never seen anything like that in my life.”

As he told The Overlap, Roy Keane was eager to inform his former teammate that “Celtic Park is a better atmosphere.”

The former midfield player was successful at Old Trafford, winning the Treble in 1999, and he also briefly wore the Celtic uniform.

In light of this, the Irishman will always harbor affection for the Bhoys, as Ian Wright, Roy Keane, Jamie Carragher, and Gary Neville all mentioned.

“He was a very good player him and he was obviously good at set-pieces,” Roy Keane continued.

As the game was about to begin, Neville declared, “Ibrox had the best atmosphere I have ever seen.” What the ____ is this, I wondered? Galatasaray, loud and Celtic. Phil scored first. To be honest, during the opening few minutes of the game and right after it began. It was truly astonishing, noise Ibrox, something I had never seen in my life. Stunning.

Then, Keane recalled his erstwhile teammate, saying, “But isn’t the atmosphere at Celtic Park better?”

Celtic looking for that spark of Europe

It is now hoped that Celtic can rekindle their Champions League flame, as it hasn’t been present for far too long.

Even if the team’s most recent Champions League campaign was a complete bust, they were still able to stop the winless streak with a victory over Feyenoord.

Now, Glasgow needs and greatly misses those magnificent nights, so it’s up to us to support Brendan Rodgers in the transfer market and try to bring them back.

In his second tenure as Celtic’s manager, that will present Rodgers with his greatest obstacle.
