The Celtics’ supporters, the manager, and even the player himself have been quite irritated by Cameron Carter-Vickers’ injuries thus far this season.
Due to a recurrent hamstring injury, the US international’s season has been cut short; he has missed 20 games for Celtic so far this year. [Transfermarkt]
During three matches, Celtic lost seven league points and were eliminated from the League Cup, demonstrating that when Carter-Vickers is sidelined, Celtic is also sidelined.
As a precaution, the defender missed Saturday’s 4-2 victory against Livingston. Although Rodgers thinks Carter-Vickers will be fine to participate in Celtic’s first-team training sessions this week, he does have a hunch as to why the defender is suffering more ailments than usual.
Carter-Vickers’ knee operation still causing issues
Due to a knee problem he was experiencing at the close of the previous season, the Celtic defender was scheduled for surgery.
Even though the knee appears to be in good condition, Rodgers thinks Carter-Vickers is having additional issues as a result of the surgery.
“We will have a look at Cameron Carter Vickers; he should be fine; it was a precaution,” Rodgers said Celtic TV. I had a lengthy conversation with Cam this morning, and he basically believes that everything revolves around his knee surgery.
Additionally, after suffering a few injuries from it, you start to experience that feeling and believe it to be related to another injury.
Fortunately, it doesn’t appear to be the case. He worked with the medical staff after the scan, which went well, and on Thursday and Friday, he should be back with the training squad.
Carter-Vickers is a crucial member of the Celtic team. The defender’s entrance two weeks ago against Motherwell turned the tide of the contest, enabling Celtic to come back from behind and win 3-1.
When Carter-Vickers is in the lineup, the back four just seems to be more cohesive. Hopefully, Carter-Vickers will be well enough to participate in the forthcoming Scottish Premiership game at Celtic Park against St Johnstone.
