Rangers fans won’t like what Graeme Souness has just said about Celtic Park on derby day

It doesn’t take a genius to figure out that the most heated atmosphere in European football is created at Celtic Park on nights when the Champions League is played or on Glasgow derby day.

Definitely in the top five, if not the most severe. Actually, no; if Lionel Messi is saying that this is the best football match environment in Europe, then it must be real.

Xavi and Cristiano Ronaldo, for example, totally concur. And now, thanks to our club’s amazing supporters, even Rangers legend Graeme Souness has lifted his hat to Parkhead’s amazing atmosphere.

Souness has even gone so far as to suggest that Celtic Park is unmatched anyplace in the world, despite the fact that there were no Rangers supporters present on derby day last weekend.

Graeme Souness loves Celtic Park on derby day

Celtic FC v Rangers - Scottish Premiership

He’s right on, we have to acknowledge. For the New Year’s Day rivalry encounter, Parkhead was incredibly boisterous as Celtic emerged as deserving 2-1 winners.

Amazing goals from Kyogo and Paulo Bernardo broke Philippe Clement’s Rangers bubble and gave the team an eight-point lead at the top of the Scottish Premiership.

Not even a Gers loss against their biggest rivals can stop Souness, 70, from praising the incredible atmosphere at Celtic Park. Souness was at the stadium to fully immerse himself in Celtic’s victory.

“What an atmosphere it was at Celtic Park last Saturday,” he wrote in his most recent Daily Mail column. I promise there isn’t a derby like the Old Firm one elsewhere in the world, and I was there for it.

That will undoubtedly enrage Rangers supporters, who say that the atmosphere at Ibrox is the best in all of European football.

Clearly, Souness doesn’t think so. Even without Rangers supporters in the stands, his observations about Celtic Park on derby day are spot-on.

It only goes to demonstrate that the Rangers icon is unable to dispute Celtic Park’s atmosphere as having the best atmosphere in all of world football, and we’re delighted he, of all people, is able to acknowledge it.
