Celtic’s title race has been a rollercoaster ride this season, at least under Brendan Rodgers.
We had a healthy lead at the top of the table, but due to injury issues and poor results, Rangers eventually caught up and overtook us.
With only four games remaining, Celtic appear to be favourites to retain the title, having regained the lead following Rangers’ two massive slips against Dundee and Ross County.
But it was in the Scottish Cup that Brendan Rodgers made headlines. His altercation with kit man Stevie Wright became the talk of Celtic town after the Celtic manager lost it when he interfered during an important team meeting prior to the Aberdeen penalties.
Neil McCann’s response was unexpected and unusual.
Rodgers feels ‘pressure’ after kitman blast
The former Rangers forward was discussing how Rangers manager Philippe Clement is handling the pressure so well.
McCann used Rodgers’ altercation with the Celtic kit man to claim Clement was under pressure, rather than citing Clement’s lap of honour after the Ibrox Glasgow Derby or his reaction to losing to Ross County.
McCann stated [Scottish Football Podcast]: “But what I will say is that there is still a lot of football to be played. There actually is.
“You can be as cool as you like, but it starts to get to you.”
So Clement is ’emotional’ and Rodgers is under ‘pressure’. Wow. What a verdict.
Rodgers appeared calm and relaxed when asked about the Hampden incident during his pre-match press conference in Dundee, which adds to the strangeness of his comments.
It was an unusual stance from McCann, whose former club’s manager’s behaviour over the last week or so would have been an excellent example of a manager under pressure in this title race.
