Shortly after Jorge Grant’s penalty, the home crowd and the Hoops No. 1 got into a fight.
Joe Hart got involved in a heated fight at Tynecastle after video of the Celtic keeper shouting with Hearts supporters surfaced.
The 36-year-old experienced goalie had a difficult afternoon at work as the Hawks lost badly, 2-0, at Gorgie. The struggling champions had a frustrating day as they were unable to take advantage of Rangers’ unexpected 2-1 home setback to Motherwell. In the chase for the championship, a win in Edinburgh would have put Brendan Rodgers’ team one point ahead of their opponents, but Steven Naismith’s team had other ideas during a powderkeg meeting in the capital.
After Don Robertson’s VAR review, Yang’s first booking for a high boot on Alex Cochrane was increased to a red, leaving Celts stunned. After a contentious ruling that left the visitors playing with ten men for the majority of the match, Hearts was given a shocking penalty after Tomoki Iwata was unjustly penalized for a handball, and VAR once again intervened.
When top scorer Lawrence Shankland unexpectedly stepped aside for the spot kick, Hart teased the striker for passing the ball to Jorge Grant in a back-and-forth exchange. However, Grant sent the Hoops No. 1 the wrong way to start the Jambos’ scoring, leaving him with a sour expression on his face.
Hart wasted no time in racing to retrieve the ball from the Wheatfield Stand, only to get into a heated argument with the fans cheering back home. After a fan threw the ball right below Hart’s face, a steward had to remove the Celtics player, which made Hart unhappy. But as the ball was flung straight at him once more, the former England international faced off against another fan a few seconds later.
The Manchester City veteran reacted even more angrily to that, walking towards the stand before teammate Cameron Carter-Vickers drew him away. Before the game finally resumed, Hart could still be seen chatting with the agitated Jambos support as he made his way back between the sticks.
Allan Preston, a BBC Scotland pundit and former Hearts player, saw the incident live and commented, “Joe Hart is into the crowd.” I have no idea what he’s doing.
