“My fear”: Andy Walker shares his brutally honest feelings about the update regarding Celtics away fans

Andy Walker offers brutally honest thoughts on Celtic-Rangers away fans allocation update

Andy Walker has described the most recent information regarding away fans potentially making a comeback for Celtic vs. Rangers games as a “token gesture.”Ally McCoist and Alan Brazil pleaded for away fans to travel back to Parkhead for the following two Rangers and Celtic games, respectively.

This is in response to a recent article in The Times that claimed there had been a “significant development” in the parties’ talks, with the SPFL serving as a mediator.

Because of this, up to 750 distant Celtic supporters could make the trip to Ibrox on April 6 for the match.

But Andy Walker isn’t having any of it. Speaking to Go Radio, he declared that the days of having up to 8,000 fans in the away end would never come back.

Since Rangers was consistently the second-best team in 2018, there has been a farce involving away fans. First, the opponent reduced the allotment, which in turn led to no fans at all.

Following this most recent development, Andy Walker expressed his thoughts on the matter in a very direct and honest manner.

Rangers and Celtic away supporters

Walker expressed his fear that it would be a token gesture. “I don’t believe you will ever return to 7,000 or 8,000. The clubs don’t seem to want it.

“That (the possibility of having 2.5k fans) would be fantastic.” However, I worry that it will just amount to another seven or eight hundred or just a token gesture.

“I’m positive that everyone watched Sunderland vs. Newcastle solely to see the contrast between the black and white and the red and white. The intensity of its color and its constant edge.

But to be honest, I don’t see Celtic-Rangers making a comeback. I think it’s terrible, but that’s the reality you have to face.

Celtic pursuit of additional trophies

The team knows they can win because the Bhoys have won numerous titles and similar events in the past, whether there are supporters or not.

That was demonstrated when Kyogo Furuhashi, the Derby Day King, struck the winning goal at Ibrox earlier in the season and then once more proved to be the difference-maker at Parkhead.

Brendan Rodgers is all too aware that Celtic step up and perform admirably at this point in the season.

And from now on, supporters should anticipate far more reliable performances from the team since destiny is in their control.
