On July 26 of last year, at around 8 p.m., he showed up at his victim’s house in Southfield Crescent, Coatbridge, intoxicated.

The prosecutor, Lauren Cole, claimed that Haughian, 31, was cursing and called the man a grass.

According to defense agent Rowan Myles, Haughian grew up in a household where alcohol consumption was a “daily feature”.
His own drinking issue, which has resulted in him being “in and out of prison” throughout the years, was “no surprise”.
“He was considerably under the influence at the time of this assault,” the attorney stated.
“The victim and another person gave him a hard time.

“He was on the receiving end, verbally and physically, and they removed him from the street.”
After Haughian’s arrest in August, he had been detained; however, Sheriff Fergus Thomson granted him bail and postponed his sentencing until February 28 in order to obtain background information.
“Your record is as long as my leg, never mind my arm,” the sheriff said to him. But we’ll examine what possibilities are available.”
