In their attempt to sign Liam Scales and Rocco Vata to new contracts, Celtic has reached a deadlock.
The young attacker, Vata, will be free to move somewhere in the summer and Celtic will receive a compensation fee dependent on how long he spent in the club’s Academy. The defender is under contract until May 2025.
Brendan Rodgers was quoted by The Sun on January 7 as saying:

Liam’s representative is reportedly in contact with the club, and he is thrilled that his client is playing. That will be resolved eventually, I’m sure. For him, it’s been an incredible journey.
It seems that not much has changed in the past two months, as transfer specialist Scott Burns of the Daily Record reports:
Liam Scales and Rocco Vata are still in negotiations with Celtic about new contracts. Both parties have offers on the table, but at this point, neither party is any closer to reaching a deal.
Scales joined the Celtic defense at the end of August, and despite the team’s upheaval in that area, he hasn’t missed a match since, even after Gus Lagerbielke and Maik Nawrocki were signed in the summer.
His rapid rise to prominence in the Irish international team has undoubtedly drawn attention from rival clubs to his potential.
The defender, who joined from Shamrock Rovers in 2021 just after turning 23, is probably among the lowest paid members of the first team roster.
Vata has made just three fleeting first team appearances this season, but he has recently been more involved with the Celtic first team squad. This season, he has been linked to a number of clubs, notably teams in Italy.
