Coventry City injury updates and comeback schedules for Torp, Allen, and Sakamoto as the Sky Blues get ready for Wolves

It seems like Coventry City has been facing a string of injuries, with midfielder Victor Torp being the latest casualty due to a strain in his gluteal muscles during the match against Watford. This comes just as they were boosted by the return of Ben Sheaf from a hamstring tear. The manager, Mark Robins, expressed concern about Torp’s condition and highlighted the importance of having players like Sheaf available during such demanding times in the season.

As for Torp’s expected return date, it remains unknown at this point, leaving Coventry City facing further challenges in the midfield area as they strive to maintain their position in the Championship’s top six.

Jamie Allen, the midfielder for Coventry City, suffered a fractured cheekbone following a challenge by Sheffield Wednesday defender Di’Shon Bernard during the FA Cup fourth-round replay. The injury occurred in a match where Coventry City triumphed 4-1 over Sheffield Wednesday. Allen underwent surgery to have titanium plates fitted in his cheekbone, a procedure described by manager Mark Robins as “horrific.” The initial timescale for his recovery was set at six weeks from the operation.

In a recent update, Robins stated, “Jamie is back on the grass.” There is now optimism that Allen could return to action over the international break, with the expected return date being around March 25th. This would potentially see him back in contention for Coventry City’s match against Huddersfield away on Good Friday, March 29th.

Coventry City's Tatsuhiro Sakamoto

Tatsuhiro Sakamoto appears to be a winger who suffered a serious back injury during a match against Preston North End, leading to him missing the rest of the season. The injury occurred when he went up for a header and landed heavily. Coventry City manager Mark Robins provided this information, mentioning that it’s a private matter and further details will be discussed with Sakamoto later. It seems that the injury will require a significant recovery period.

“He’s out of hospital and back home and had scans. He’s had another scan and he’s not in a good way. He’s going to recover but it’s going to take time. Unfortunately for him he’s in quite a lot of pain, so I hope that subsides quickly.

“He’s been brilliant and he needed a rest, there is no doubt because when you come into English football with games every five minutes they aren’t used to it. He was crying out for a breather and I couldn’t give it to him, and it contributed to it. If you are not thinking straight, the fatigue was there and it clouds your judgement. I’m really sad for him and really sad for us.”

Expected return date: Pre-season
