In a 1-1 A-League Men’s game with Sydney FC, Marco Tilio scored a lovely goal to assist Melbourne City salvage a point, marking the beginning of the end for his stagnant career.
Tilio scored his first goal at the senior level in almost ten months with a brilliant shot on Saturday in front of 15,120 spectators at Allianz Stadium.
The 22-year-old winger’s career took a turn for the worst last year when he moved to Scottish powerhouse Celtic from Melbourne, despite the fact that he always seemed destined for success.
A player with seven caps for Australia, the injury plagued player only managed to play 27 minutes in two games in Glasgow before being loaned back to City in January in an attempt to kickstart his career.
His goal in the 61st minute, which came after the winger grabbed a clearance from City goalkeeper Jamie Young, demonstrated why Celtic were so eager to get him in the first place.
The ball was subsequently buried beyond goalkeeper Andrew Redmayne by Tilio after he had evaded two Sky Blues defenders.

Early in the second half, Anthony Caceres and Joe Lolley both put Young to the test, but their lack of composure gave City a chance to retake the lead, and Tilio was glad to punish them.
Sydney is still in the running for the playoffs, but captain Luke Brattan won’t be playing in the Wanderers derby next week since he received his fifth yellow card of the season.
