Celtic are facing transfer dilemma and Brendan Rodgers plus Mark Lawwell have to walk the wire carefully – Chris Sutton

Kyogo Furuhashi has established himself as Celtic’s best attacker. The Japanese are preferred, and with good reason.

As much as Brendan Rodgers has stated that he wants quality, adding a player with Kyogo’s caliber to the striking group seems like the best course of action. All of this is known to us. It has been in our ears for weeks. But here’s the deal. How are you going to persuade a top-tier player to join your team only to be a bench warmer and backup unless you are bringing in someone to replace Yogo in the starting lineup? More importantly, how much will it cost you to acquire a guy that pushes Kyogo aside?

Celtic is currently dealing with this problem. Signings are demanded by the supporters. Callum McGregor, the boss, and he are yelling for signings. However, I guess it’s a difficult sell. or purchase, if you’d like. This early in the season, there are three varieties available. Those that are acting outside of their comfort zones are the first. They are in high demand, so if you want them, you had better be willing to pay top cash.

The guys in the second group want to go out and play because they aren’t getting any games. Why aren’t you playing is the first thing you ask them. Why are you being let out of your club? You really are that good? Although there are occasionally exceptions, most people who look for escape routes do so because they lack the talent to be accepted into their own squad. I present Yuki Kobayashi, Marco Tillo, Gustaf Lagerbielke, and others.

The youngsters being leased out, the unknowns, and the, whisper it, projects make up the third group. Now you can get decent ones. Januarys of late have seen some excellent examples for Celtic. To be honest, Reo Hatate was a near-project at the time. In his career, he didn’t play in many games, wasn’t well-known to the local fan base, and was only available for a pitiful price compared to his skill since no one else was searching in the same area as Ange Postecoglou.

Postecoglou was in the lead. Hatate is and was a talented person.Riley Matt. When he was playing for MK Dons, nobody was really paying attention to him. In the same vein, Rodgers must now get ahead of the game by identifying this year’s Hatate and O’Riley instead of, respectably, Jeremy Toljan or Oli Burke. To me, Nicolas Kuhn seems like a project. Moreover, Rodgers has made it quite apparent that he prefers quality over initiatives. Thus, will the German resemble a Marian Shved or a Daizen Maeda?

Certain locations are given top priority. Because Alexandro Bernabei isn’t good enough to take his spot at left-back, Greg Taylor must bear the full weight of the responsibility.

Greg Taylor celebrates with Matt O’Riley

That role is essential. That is in no way intended as a disrespect to Taylor, who continues to perform well, but given the Champions League, he should at the very least have enough backup and be upgraded.

In addition, I would question if Rodgers would consider whether Alistair Johnston poses a sufficient threat for a full back in the present era in the latter third of the pitch. Is finding a new center-back even a priority, given that there are two lefties in Liam Scales and Maik Nawrocki and two righties in Cameron Carter-Vickers and Stephen Welsh? I’m not entirely certain.

It’s interesting to watch midfield. It was begging for a signing a month ago, but with Hatate’s injury comeback and Paulo Bernardo stepping up before the break, that’s like adding a couple new players for the second half of the season. Long-term planning is, of course, crucial. In the summer, O’Riley will likely receive a sizable offer, thus Celtic must prepare for his departure well in advance of that time.

Since Celtic needs to be better equipped for Europe next term—as I have stated numerous times—that replacement should ideally be in place right now. To be honest, the Champions League build-up this season was a complete mess. This race is very much on, and I don’t think Rangers will go away, so there needs to be some risk on expenditure to ensure the victory.

They may see a downturn, but Rodgers needs to give the team more support because they won’t go away. Although it doesn’t feel easy, Celtic has been unstoppable for ten years, and they must play well enough to qualify for the Champions League group stages the next year. The big one is the striker. Oh Hyeon-gyu isn’t all that horrible, in my opinion. In many aspects, he’s perfect because he’s still young and understands that Kyogo is the team’s primary player.
