Celtic eyeing move to sign creative £2m attacker for Rodgers

According to reports, Celtic is considering a move to buy a dynamic new attacker for Brendan Rodgers during the January transfer window; the fee for such a transaction might be as high as £2 million.

Transfer plans for Celtic in January

The Hoops were profitable even after Jota’s high-profile departure to Saudi Arabia, despite being overly busy throughout the summer with several new players joining on permanent contracts.

Celtic summer window signings Fee

Odin Thiago Holm (Valerenga) £2.5m
Marco Tilio (Melbourne City) £2m
Hyun-Jun Yang (Gangwon) £2m
Hyeokkyu Kwon (Busan I-Park) £1m
Maik Nawrocki (Legia Warsaw) £4.3m

Many of the recent additions, though, haven’t exactly gone as planned. According to reports, Argentine left-back Alexandro Bernabei is drawing interest from Europe and his native country; Yuki Kobayashi and Yosuke Ideguchi may return to Japan; winger Marco Tilio is wanted back on loan by former team Melbourne City; and defender Gustaf Lagerbielke may also be leaving.

Rodgers is rumored to seek a striker, left winger, and central midfielder this month, with Celtic potentially spending up to £10 million. As a result, winter window acquisitions may be on the schedule.

When asked recently what the market can anticipate this month, Rodgers responded as follows:

“I’m not sure. When they’re in and announced, I’ll let you know. I’m calm but determined. I’m looking for excellence. And we must get better at that.

A new report suggests that one of those attacking arrivals might be a former Ajax and Bayern Munich prospect.

Celtic glancing at Nicolas Kuhn

In the past 48 hours, The Scottish Sun has provided an update on Celtic transfers, indicating that Rodgers and the Hornets are considering a deal for Nicolas Kuhn, a winger for Rapid Vienna. According to the article, the player, who might fetch up to £2 million—four times what Rapid Vienna spent for him—may find relocation to Parkhead more appealing.

The article also mentions that Wyscout, a data and scouting website, has ranked him among the top 12 “chance creators” in international football; so, after establishing himself as a regular in Austria, he seems to be a very gifted attacking spark.

Left-footed forward Kuhn can play center forward, left wing, or right wing. His primary position is right wing. For his present employers, the 24-year-old has now made 51 senior games, tallying 10 assists and seven goals. (Transfermarkt statistics by Nicolas Kuhn)

Jochen Sauer, the campus manager of Bayern Munich, gave Kuhn high marks before he moved to Vienna, saying back in 2020:

He is an agile, technically proficient player who meshes well with our group and contributes to the title. We have high hopes for him going forward.

Therefore, he might be a thrilling addition for Rodgers and company as they pursue a second Scottish Premiership title. Based on Wyscout’s new report, Celtic might be able to get a creative talent for about £2 million.
