According to Celtics manager Brendan Rodgers, he had a conversation with USMT head coach Gregg Berhalter to convince him against selecting Cameron Carter-Vickers.The 3-1 victory over St Johnstone saw the center defense make a comeback to the starting lineup; nonetheless, he was left off of the Jamaica CONCACAF Semi-Final roster.

After the game, Rodgers told the media that he and Berhalter had agreed that the Celtic defender should stay at Lennoxtown in order to regain his fitness.

LISTEN: “I talked to Gregg (Berhalter) from the US team, and we decided that he should continue working with us from there.”In order for Cameron Carter-Vickers to be ready for Celtic’s title run-in, Brendan Rodgers asked that the defender not play for his country.

As he controls his minutes, Rodgers made the decision to substitute the center defender with a 3-0 advantage. Maik Nawrocki and Liam Scales should be back in the mix for the trip to Ibrox at the start of April, according to the Irishman.

Patchy Celtic performances have coincided with CCV’s injury-plagued season. The manager will be under intense pressure to get CCV on the team before the final. It is probably for the best that Carter-Vickers is remaining behind given he has travels to Livingston and Ibrox coming up after the international break.
