Adam Idah, a striker for Celtic, has had a significant influence in Glasgow since joining the team from Norwich City in the English Championship. Even though he missed a crucial penalty away at Hearts on Sunday that could have changed the course of the match had he scored, so far, his move has been more beneficial than detrimental.
The Irish forward has made seven Hoops appearances in all competitions, scoring five goals and providing an assist. His contributions have quickly dispelled any worries about his signing.
The impact that Idah has had in Glasgow has left Celtic supporters pleasantly pleased, and it appears that his parent club is just as stunned.
Adam Idah Celtic vs. Hibernian in the Scottish Premiership on February 7, 2024; Easter Road, Edinburgh, Scotland: Adam Idah of Celtic celebrates after making it 2-1 in the 92nd minute with a penalty kick following a VAR check.
In a recent interview with RecordCeltic, journalist Michael Gannon of RecordSport said that Idah’s antics have surprised people at the Canaries: “I believe Idah has taken a huge chance,” he remarked.
“Everyone is surprised by him. People you talk to at Norwich, for example, are similarly shocked by how brilliantly he began off.
The 23-year-old has made such an impression in Glasgow that some Celtic supporters have demanded a permanent contract when his loan is over. It doesn’t include a buy option, but considering his past contributions, it wouldn’t be shocking if the team tried to hold onto him.
Despite his error on Sunday, few would object to such a move because, thus far in Scotland, the number nine has been crucial in several important games, maybe maintaining Celtic’s position in the title fight.
