“Bradford City Makes Contract Move for 26-Year-Old Player as Deal Nears Expiry”

Bradford City has included defender Matty Platt in their retained list, offering him a new contract as they aim to retain the 26-year-old center-back for the upcoming season. Platt, who has been with the League Two side since his move from Barrow in 2022, is among the players Bradford City is eager to keep hold of.

The official club website of the Bantams confirms that Platt, along with Colin Doyle and Jamie Walker, has been presented with fresh terms. Securing Platt’s services for the next campaign would be a positive development for Bradford City, as he is set to become a free agent next month, potentially leaving the club without compensation.

Platt, originally from Merseyside, adds depth and competition to Bradford City’s defensive lineup. Since joining the club two years ago, he has accumulated 89 appearances across all competitions, contributing three goals and two assists.

Platt’s football journey began at Blackburn Rovers, progressing through their academy ranks. He made several appearances for Blackburn’s first team and had loan spells at Accrington Stanley and Southport before his time at Barrow, where he played a pivotal role in their promotion to the fourth tier.

Bradford City initially signed Platt on a two-year deal and is now looking to extend his contract. The club has recently published their retained list, revealing the release of players like Harry Chapman, Liam Ridehalgh, Luke Hendrie, and Matt Derbyshire.
