Carole King Returns to the Spotlight with Biopic, Broadway Surprise, and Political Activism
King also made a surprise appearance on Broadway, joining the cast of Beautiful: The Carole King Musical during a curtain call at the Stephen Sondheim Theater. She performed her classic hit “You’ve Got a Friend” alongside actress Jessie Mueller, who portrays King in the production. This marked King’s first time attending the musical, which chronicles her early life and career.
Looking ahead, a biopic titled Beautiful is in development, with actress Daisy Edgar-Jones set to portray King. The film, based on the Broadway musical, has King’s enthusiastic endorsement. She praised Edgar-Jones’ “spirit and energy,” expressing confidence in her ability to capture the essence of King’s younger self.
