John Park has joined Tony Mowbray’s staff at Birmingham City after leaving Rangers this season.

Football Scotland understands the former Ibrox and Celtic talent spotter has landed the head of international scouting role with the Blues and will link back up with the Englishman with whom he worked at Parkhead.

We told you how the 65-year-old had chosen to leave Rangers following a shakeup in their scouting department with video and analysis becoming a key element of their recruitment plans. Nils Koppen arrived to help Philippe Clement as head of football operations a short time later. The transfer guru had a number of options on the table but Football Scotland can reveal he has chosen to work alongside Mogga in his role as boss at St Andrew’s.

Park has a wealth of experience having previously worked at numerous clubs including the Hoops, Motherwell, Hibernian, Dundee United, Blackburn Rovers, Vancover Whitecaps, Maccabi Tel Aviv and Legia Warsaw. He was responsible for helping identify Virgil van Dijk and Victor Wanyama for Neil Lennon whilst at Celtic.
